followfriday-twitter#followfriday is a weekly tradition on Twitter where members recommend interesting people they are following to the people that follow them. If people are following me, and I start following someone interesting, I may want to recommend this new found person to my followers, as they are likely to also be interested.

To do this I would type #followfriday @username1 @username2. My followers can then click those usernames from their own twitter screen and follow them on their own account if they choose.

What are #tags anyway? Hash tags (#followfriday) are ways to associate your posts with other similiar posts. Many people use different applications to search/sort tweets. Most of this software will allow you to monitor posts on specific topics. Example: One of my favorite bands is Phish. If I am making a comment about an upcoming concert, or am looking for information from other Phish fans, I might include the hashtage #phish in my post if I didn’t already include the word Phish somewhere in my context. This way it will appear to anyone following/searching posts about Phish to see my post.

How can you sort conversations based on #hashtags? You can use TweetDeck, TwitScoop, TwitterFall, or even just search.twitter.com.

A lot of people keep their eye out for #followfriday , now you can too.
