Big news over at AdBrite - someone showed up for work – and discontinued Flat Rate ads. This may be another set back for AdBrite (they typically move backwards). The few people I know that still use AdBrite were only doing so specifically because of the Flat Rate ads.
AdBrite allowed webmasters to set a flat rate (daily , weekly, or monthly) for each of their ad zones. Site owners could also chose to let AdBrite adjust the price up or down based on availability (if no one bought your ad, the price would slowly drop over time until someone purchased the spot). Webmasters had all the control on which options they used, or if they allowed flat rate ads at all. So why would AdBrite remove this option?
Here is the letter that AdBrite sent out to advertisers:
Hello,
We are discontinuing our flat-rate ad format. In preparation for this change we will cancel your flat rate ads and issue you a prorated refund for days the ad did not display. We will also be removing the flat rate ad tab from the display. If you need to view your records, you can do so at this link: *removed*We will email you again once the ads are canceled and refunds issued. We appreciate your business, and hope that you will continue using our other advertising formats.
Best regards,
AdBrite, Inc.
If you aren’t already familiar with AdBrite, they are one of the most fraud filled ad networks on the planet. Almost all the traffic is generated using blackhat tactics from 4 years ago.
This network is so far back in time I think they formed a wagon train to get to affiliate summit. If you ever advertise here you’ll understand what I mean. You must spend months pausing 10,000′s of sites that are frauding adbrite to get to any real traffic and conversions (literally 10,000+).
It can’t be too long until AdBrite’s lights go out for good.
